Facilities

Maria Montessori Pre-School is staffed by qualified, experienced and caring teachers. The school operates in accordance with the Department of Early Childhood and Education Regulations. We ensure that the school environment is open, well lit, airy yet cozy and comfortable. We have a well-equipped and large play area that gives students ample room for supervised outdoor activity.

Montessori Classroom

We provide a secure, safe, stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors that fosters all aspect of their social, physical, cognitive, emotional and aesthetic development at a pace that is developmentally appropriate.

Children engage in different areas of the Montessori program – Practical life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Creative Arts, Musical Movement, Science, Geography and Cultural Studies.

Emphasis is on the literacy skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing through stories; rhymes, chants and songs; discussions and contributions during group times; expressing self through drawing and art; group and individual reading using phonetics and high-frequency words; writing letters of the alphabet, words and sentences. Children are encouraged to perform set tasks in developing their written skills. These activities are individualized at the child’s level of ‘readiness’.

We provide a prepared environment with Montessori designed didactic materials which help children develop concentration and self-discipline.  Children work at their own pace with guidance and support from staff.  The children’s innate passion for learning is also encouraged by giving them opportunities to engage in spontaneous as well as purposeful activities.

Outdoor Play Area

The outdoor play area is very large with trees giving shade during the summer months.  The children love outdoors as it is equipped with different play stations such as a sandpit with Balinese hut, digging patch, cubby house, swings, a fort and many more attractions.

When the children are outside, they have more space and freedom for big movements, like running, jumping, kicking and throwing. Physical activities like these are good for their health, fitness and physical development.

The children enjoy the huge outdoor area where they demonstrate spatial awareness and orient themselves, moving around and through their environments confidently and safely.

Playing outside gives the child the chance to explore the natural environment and have adventures. They can play favorite games, test their physical limits, express themselves and build their self-confidence.

Outside play can also mean more mess – and more mess often means more fun!
